How will I work?

The goal of the Isometric Registry and Science Network is to create a community that fosters respect, collaboration and advancement in the science and practice of carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Through using the Isometric Registry and/or joining the Isometric Science Network you agree to abide by the Isometric Code of Conduct.


I. Expected Behavior

All users are expected to adhere to the following principles and behaviors both online and in-person:

  1. Respect: Maintain a tone of respect and courtesy in all interactions whether they be with fellow users, researchers, moderators or the wider public. Every user has the right to share ideas, ask questions and provide feedback without fear of ridicule or disrespect.
  2. Constructive feedback: Ensure that feedback is constructive, relevant and grounded in evidence.
  3. Truth and honesty: Be truthful when submitting claims, data and other information—including but not limited to in relation to their professional identity and affiliations.
    1. Any data or research shared should be accurate to the best of the user’s knowledge and should include relevant sources or citations.
    2. Users must disclose any conflicts of interest that may bias their work.
  4. Privacy: Do not share personal information, either the user’s own or that of others without permission. This includes addresses, phone numbers and personal email addresses.

II**. Examples of Unacceptable Behavior**

Unacceptable behavior is any behavior that does not align with Isometric’s interpretation of the expected behaviors outlined in Section 1. This includes:

  1. Criminal behavior: Undertaking criminal acts.
  2. Personal attacks: Threatening or attacking someone based on personal attributes such as race, gender, religion, etc.
  3. Promoting hate speech: Making comments that promote violence or hatred towards groups based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability or any other identifiable characteristic.
  4. Plagiarism: Reproducing someone else's work without giving appropriate credit, presenting it as the user’s own or without their permission.
  5. Spreading misinformation: Sharing information that is known to be false or without proper verification.
  6. Trolling or harassment: Making inflammatory, derogatory, threatening or provocative comments.
  7. Spamming: Posting irrelevant or promotional messages on any page hosted by Isometric, on any commenting forum hosted by Isometric or to individual users.

Unacceptable behaviors are not limited to the list above and Isometric reserves the right to decide what constitutes unacceptable behavior on a case-by-case basis.


III**. Consequences and Reporting Unacceptable Behavior**

Moderation

Unacceptable behaviors may lead to various moderation actions, including but not limited to, warnings, deletion of comments/posts, immediate removal from events or immediate ban from the Science Network and all associated opportunities. Anyone who has received a warning to stop unacceptable behavior must comply immediately.

Isometric has the right to report criminal acts to the relevant authorities and institutions. This includes but is not limited to:

  1. Research, business, or academic institutions that the user is a member of;
  2. National or federal courts; and
  3. Police and other law-enforcement entities.

Reporting

If users encounter unacceptable behavior they should report it immediately to Moderators via [email protected] with the email subject “Science Network - Reporting Misconduct.” All reports will be treated with discretion and confidentiality.

Appeals

Every user has the right to a fair assessment of their actions. If a user feels that they have been unjustly moderated or disciplined they can appeal the decision by sending an explanation of why they believe they have been unjustly moderated or disciplined to [email protected] with the email subject “Science Network - Moderation Appeal”.


IV. Versioning

This is version 1.0.0 of the Isometric Code of Conduct. Isometric reserves the right to update the Code of Conduct to reflect our views and those of our users. The Isometric Science Network will be informed via email when substantive changes to the Code of Conduct occur.

V. Definitions

  1. Moderator - Internal Isometric staff who will monitor user compliance with the Isometric Code of Conduct and manage unacceptable behavior.
  2. User - Any individual interacting with the Isometric Registry or member of the Isometric Science Network.
